Globe Telecom President and CEO Ernest L. Cu in a keynote message at the CEO Virtual Summit 2021 on August 26, 2021 provides inspiration on digital technology and what it brings to businesses particularly in today’s pandemic environment. He pointed out that Globe is in a crucial position to help its 84 million customers and the entire country to move forward as we take on our current challenges in this global health crisis. He said, “COVID-19 truly accelerated the Filipinos’ move to digital life. They are forced to do things digitally, transforming their homes into an all-in-one place for livelihood, learning and leisure. Business as well turned to digital when their very survival was put at risk. Our role in our customers’ lives tremendously deepened as we provided choices for customers to continue on with their lives despite the limitations of community quarantines and the physical risks of COVID-19.”
Globe’s digital solutions serve as an important element in the lives of customers and the recovery of businesses. “They provide safe, secure, reliable and convenient solutions that aid Filipinos to continue on without the risk of lining up in stores, making physical payments with cash or having to risk their lives to go to the hospital for a simple check-up. Financial transactions were made via their mobile phones through GCash. Grocery shopping delivered door-to-door through Puregold. Doctor consultations were done virtually through KonsultaMD. We’ve also used our platforms Globe Rewards and GCash for donation platforms to support advocacies during this difficult time,” Cu mentioned.
Another Globe digital offering that was highlighted in Cu’s message is Globe Labs and the role it plays for business and local governments to continue their operations. Cu stressed, “This enabled them to reach and engage more customers, achieve operational efficiency, streamline back-end operations.”
He added, “One of our products that prove to be so useful for businesses and even LGUs is AMBER or Automated Mobile Blaster, our SMS blast platform. For businesses, AMBER is being used to deliver reminders and announcements to workforce and customers. LGUs leverage its capabilities as a rapid and direct way to connect with people. The LGU staff use AMBER to ease communication lines with citizens and make the roll-out of vaccination programs as efficient as possible.”
Several local government units (LGUs) have relied on Globe for its SMS solutions to aid in their community efforts, including the city governments of Navotas, Bacoor and Cabanatuan, which turned to Globe’s SMS API allowing them to send vaccination alerts and other important reminders to their constituents. LGUs of Cebu City, Mandaluyong and Daraga in Albay, on the other hand, make use of Globe’s AMBER to send out vaccination program alerts.
